Greeneville Hamfest will sponsor an exam session at 10 am on the stage. Listen for announcements on Saturday morning for information about the exams.
If you are unlicensed or do not have a FRN (GMRS licensees have a FRN) you must have an FRN from the FCC for each person taking an exam. If you do not have one, please visit this website and register for one. It only takes a few minutes and there is no charge for it. https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/html/know.html
You will need a valid email address as all FCC correspondence is now done with email.
Please bring a copy of your current FCC license, any CSCE’s, and a valid ID. Cost to take the exam in 2024 is currently $10 (exact change appreciated). There is an additional $35 fee charged by the FCC that you must submit through their website after you are notified your application is pending. The FCC will not process your application until this fee is paid.
There is no additional $10 charge if you pass an exam and then want to take the next higher class license exam. Retesting after failing an exam is $10 for each additional retaken exam.
NOTICE – Anyone under the age of 18 taking an exam is exempt from the $10 exam fee ONCE PER TEST SESSION. Anyone under 18 retaking an exam (after failing an exam) during the test session will have to pay an additional $10 per retaken exam. The test session is defined as the day and location of the administering VE team. Please bring a valid identification such as a birth certificate, drivers license, or passport to verify age.
